this company was successively designated
New Co. M. 13th Regt. Ga. Vol. Inf., and
Co. M, which became Co. B,
May 8, 1862, 26th Regt. Ga. Vol. Inf.

This company went into camp on “The Ridge” near Darien, Ga. 8-12-1861. On 9-26-1862, it was ordered by Brig. Gen. A.R. Lawton to Brunswick, Glynn Co., Georgia to report to Col. Styles.  Was ordered by Col. Styles to St. Simons Island, Glynn Co., Georgia 6 October 1861.

ABRAHAM, Moses –  Private 8-13-1861.  Roll for 8-31-1864, last on file, shows him absent, sick.  No later record.  (born in Strasburg, Prussian in 1839)

AMOS, James D. – Private 8-13-1861.  Died of disease in General Hosp. #1, at Lynchburg, Va. 3-14-1863.  Buried there in Confederate Cemetery, #6, 2d line, lot 123.  Claytor’s.

AMOS, Joseph – Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded in right foot at Cold Harbor, Va. 6-27-1862.   Admitted to Chimborazo Hosp. #3, at Richmond, Va. 6-29-1862. Died of wounds 7-17-1862.

AMOS, William – Private 9-12-1861.  Wounded and captured at Wilderness, Va. 5-6-1864.  Released at Elmira, N.Y. 6-16-1865.

BAKER, A. Pratt –  Private 8-13-1861. Killed at Wilderness, Va. 5-5-1864

BAKER, William M. –  Private 11-24-1861.  Wounded and captured at Monocacy, Md 7-10-1864.  Paroled at Point Lookout, Md. Mar. 1865.  Received at Boulware and Cox’s Wharves, James River, Va. For exchange, 3-18-1865. No later record.  (born Georgia)

BLOUNT, Edward M., Jr. – 3d Corporal 8-13-1861.  Elected Jr. 2d Lieut. 5-8-1862; 1st Lieut. In 1863.  Wounded in left side of face, cutting muscles in two and passing through lower jaw on right side, resulting in loss of teeth, at Spotsylvania, Va. 5-12-1864.  Pension records show he was in Richmond, Va. Hospital close of war.  No record of transfer to Sharpshooters.  (born in Ga 11-24-1836, died 1907)

BLOUNT, John H. – Private 8-13-1861.  Discharged 12-31-1861.

BLOUNT, McGregor – Private 8-13-1861.  Captured in McIntosh Co., Ga. 8-3-1864.  Deserted.  Appears on roll of U.S.S. Albermarle as landsman in 1864.  Transferred from Ft. Delaware, Del. To U.S. Navy Dept. 4-1-1865.

BROOKS, Robert S. – Private 10-23-1864.  (Transferred from the 2d Regt. Maryland Cavalry, but name is not borne on rolls of this regiment)  Captured at Fort Steadman, Va. 3-25-1865.  Released at Pt. Lookout, Md 6-23-1865. 

BROWN, John – Private 8-13-1861.  Appointed 2d Sgt. In 1864; 1st Sgt. In 1864.  Wounded in 1864.  Roll for 8-31-1864, last on file, shows him present.  No later record.

CAULDER, Brainard –  Private 8-13-1861.  Appears last on roll for 2-28-1862.  Killed in service

CAULDER, Edwin R. – Private 8-13-1861.  Died of disease at Darien, GA. 3-10-1864

CLARKE, Solomon T. – 3d Sergeant 8-13-1861.  Appointed 2d Sgt  9-9-1861.  Transferred to C.S. Navy 4-5-1864.  Paroled as 2d Sergeant, Qr Gunner, P.N.C.S., Co. F, 2d Regt. Naval Brigade, at Greensboro, N.C. 4-26-1865.

COGDELL, Richard – 1st Lieutenant Aug. 13, 1861.  Elected Captain Sept 9, 1861.  Retired May 8, 1862

COWART, James M. – Private 5-13-1862.  Wounded, date and place not given.  Surrendered Appomattox, Va. 4-9-1865.  (born Tattnall co., GA. 1-31-1836)

COWART, Robert J. –  Private 10-4-1861.  Wounded at Hatcher’s Run, Va. 2-1-1865. (born Tattnall Co., Ga. 7-2-1832)

COWART, William H. –  Private 10-4-1861.  Wounded and captured at Gettysburg, Pa. 7-4-1863.  Exchanged.  Roll for 8-31-1864, last on file, shows him absent, wounded.  Pension records show he was wounded at Fisher’s Hill, Va. 9-20-1864, and was at home on wounded furlough close of war. (born Ga.)

CRAWFORD, Thomas D. – 2d Sergeant, 8-13-1861. Appointed 1st Sgt 9-9-1861.  Elected 2d Lieut. 5-8-1862. Wounded, date and place not given. Resigned 4-8-1862.  Captured at New Washington, N.C. 2-27-1864.  At Camp Distribution, awaiting orders, 3-28-1864. Sent to Pt. Lookout, Md. 4-13-1864.  Transferred to Fort Delaware, Del. 6-23-1864.  No later record.

DAUVERGNE, James M. – Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded at 2d Manassas, Va. 8-28-1862.  Wounded in 1863.  Captured, date and place not given.  Released at Pt. Lookout, Md. 6-26-1865. 

DAVIS, State F. – Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded and captured at Cedar Creek, Va. 10-19-1864.  Transferred from Ft. McHenry, Md. to Pt. Lookout, Md. for exchange, 2-20-1865.  No later record.

HARRIS, James M. – Captain, Aug. 13, 1861.  Died at Camp Cogdell near Darien, GA Aug. 23 or Sept 3, 1861 (born in Ga. Nov. 9, 1827)

HARRIS, John C. – Private 8-13-1861.  Appears last on roll 2-28-1862

HILTON, Joseph – Jr. 2d Lieutenant, 8-13-1861. Elected 2d Lieut. 9-9-1861; 1st Lieut. 5-8-1862; Capt. 8-12-1863. Appointed Capt and A.A.G. of Gen. Evans’ Brigade in 1864. Wounded in 1864. Surrendered, Appomattox, Va. 4-9-1865.

HOPE, Enoch J. –  Private 8-13-1861.  Deserted, Received by Provost Marshal General, a Confederate deserter, 3-11-1865.  Took oath of allegiance to U.S. Govt. at Washington, D.C. and furnished transportation to Savannah, Ga. 3-13-1865.

HOPE, Joseph D. –  Private 10-21-1861.  Wounded through left elbow and shoulder and permanently disabled at Spotsylvania, Va. 5-12-1864.  Pension records show he was at home on wounded furlough close of war. (born Georgia 8-3-1840)

HOWARD, Henry J. – Private 8-13-1861.  Captured, paroled 3-15-1864.  Killed Spotsylvania, VA. 5-12-1864

JOYNER, Joseph P. - Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded, date and place not given.  Appointed 1st Corporal.  Surrendered, Appomattox, Va. 4-9-1865.

KLANK, William -  Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded at 2d Manassas, Va. 8-28-1862.  Elected Jr. 2d Lieut. 4-25-1863; 2d Lieut. 8-12-1863.  Wounded at Spotsylvania, Va. 5-12-1864. Killed at Fort Steadman, Va. 3-25-1865

LOWRY, John T.  -  Private 8-13-1861.  Died of dysentery in General Hospital at Danville, Va. 2-13-1863.

MELMS, Theodore - Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded and discabled at Wilderness, Va. 5-6-1864.  On detached duty 8-31-1864.  No later record

MULDOON, John - Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded, date and place not given.  Died of wounds in General Hospital #16 at Richmond, Va. 1-12-1863

OWENS, Ezra S. – 5th Sergeant 8-13-1861.  Appointed 4th Sgt 9-9-1861.  Died of disease in General Hosp. #2 at Lynchburg Va. 8-23-1862.  Buried there in Confederate Cemetery, #10, 1st Line, Lot 178.

PATTERSON, William Henry – 1st Corporal 8-13-1861.  Transferred to C.S. Navy 4-5-1864.  Captured on Atlantic Ocean, while serving in Co. F, 2d Regt. Naval Brigade, 3-13-1865.  Surrendered, Greensboro, N.C. 4-26-1865 (born in Ga.)

POPPELL, John – 4th Corporal 8-13-1861.  Died of typhoid fever at Lynchburg, Va. 8-28-1862.  Buried there in Confederate Cemetery, #5, 5th line, lot 177 – Christian’s.

REDDY, Andrew - Private 8-13-1861.  Captured at Farmville, Va. 4-6-1865.  Released at Pt. Lookout, Md. 6-17-1865.

ROWE, George W.- Private 8-13-1861.  Wounded at 2d Manassas, Va. 8-28-1862.  Wounded in right knee at Monocacy, Md. 7-9-1864, and captured there 7-10-1864.  Admitted to U.S.A. General Hospital at Frederick, Md. 7-10-1864, where left thigh was amputated.  Died 8-7-1864 in Frederick, Md (born in 1842)
