5 March 1851 the amount of $7.50 was paid out of the James M. Troup estate for the apprehension of runaways.

24 September 1851 James M. Troup estate received of John W. Hutchinson $25 for taking up & confining a negro man named Maurice belonging to estate, as per reward. Further on this date was paid out to C. O'Neal, jailer in McIntosh County, $7.55 for placing Maurice in jail $1.25, maintenance for 30 days at $0.16 a day, and providing him with a blanket $1.50.

A Maurice is not found in the inventories above, which means one of three things, he died, was sold, or his name was listed as Morris in the inventories.

Estate of “Dr. Troup” 17 January 1852, the estate paid to the McIntosh County jailer for 4 days’ maintenance for 2 “negro men”.

Estate of “Dr. Troup” 3 February 1852 to McIntosh County jailer for 3 days maintenance for Gabriel.

5 February 1852 reward of $25 paid to J.L.  Bell for the capture of Gabriel. 

On 5 February 1852, a $25 reward was paid to John M. Hutchinson for the capture of Gabriel who belonged to the estate of Dr. Troup.

6 March 1852 amount received from W. Tunno proceeds of four negro men sold as an example for having run away two years.

19 November 1852 monies from the estate paid for a tombstone for G.C. Dent.

There was a burial ground at the Courthouse and in May 1857 a woman named Mary died and her corpse was carried to McIntosh County in a coffin.
