If you have an early telephone book
that you would like to get online, drop me a line, and I'll set a page up!
You may wonder what the difference
is between a city directory and a telephone book. In the early years, the
difference was that the city directories only listed those that lived within the
city boundaries. The telephone books listed everyone who had a phone,
which included people outside of city limits.
Currently, the earliest phone book
found so far, was in the private collection of June (Lott) Nevar of Florida.
She has graciously scanned the pages and donated them for use on this website.
Early phone books and directories
can be found in the public library. The earliest phone book they have
starts in 1956.
Under the "Page" column in the
following listings, is a link to the actual image of the page, just click on it,
and you can print it, or save it to your computer.
Be sure to check out the
City
Directories for earlier listings.
